INDIANAPOLIS – The Fuels Institute announced the election of its Board of Directors for 2015–2017 at the Fuels Institute Annual Meeting in Indianapolis last week. The Board of Directors has executive and fiduciary responsibilities for the Fuels Institute.
Founded in February 2013, the Fuels Institute is a non-profit, research-oriented think tank dedicated to evaluating the market issues related to consumer vehicles and the fuels that power them. Its governing structure incorporates a diverse set of stakeholders including, but not limited to, fuel retailers, fuel producers and refiners, alternative and renewable fuel producers, automobile manufacturers, environmental advocates, consumer organizations, academics, government entities and others with expertise in the fuels and automotive industries.

In addition, the Board of Directors elected its 2015–2016 officers. Jay Ricker will serve as chairman, Bob Wimmer will serve as treasurer and John Eichberger, Fuels Institute executive director, will serve as secretary.
The Fuels Institute commissions and publishes comprehensive, fact-based research projects that address the issues identified by the affected stakeholders. These projects help to inform both business owners considering long-term investment decisions and policymakers considering legislation and regulations affecting the market.
The Fuels Institute is an independent think tank founded and managed by NACS. It was established in February 2013 to deliver comprehensive and balanced research and analysis concerning fuels, vehicles and related policy issues in order to create a market in which consumers can safely, conveniently and affordably purchase the fuels they desire.
Founded in 1961 as the National Association of Convenience Stores, NACS is the international association for convenience and fuel retailing. The U.S. convenience store industry, with more than 152,700 stores across the country, posted $696.1 billion in total sales in 2014, of which $482.6 billion were motor fuels sales. NACS has 2,100 retail and 1,600 supplier member companies, which do business in nearly 50 countries.
